Joyce and Bill Cummings established Cummings Foundation, Inc. in 1986.
One hundred percent of all rental profits from all buildings owned by Joyce and Bill Cummings and Cummings Foundation go to local nonprofits.
The Cummings Foundation distributes most of this funding and has awarded more than half a billion dollars to date in eastern Massachusetts. Every year, its signature initiative, the Cummings $35 Million Grant Program, commits new multi-year funding to 150 Greater Boston nonprofits.

In 2024, the Charles River Museum received a 3-year grant totaling $150k through Cummings Foundation's $35 Million Grant Program.
