Tracy Kidder (November 12, 1945 – March 24, 2026)
/The Museum is deeply saddened to learn about the passing of writer Tracy Kidder. Kidder’s 1981 book The Soul of a New Machine won the Pulitzer Prize, and is a seminal work documenting the birth for the modern digital revolution and the transitional time when personal computers were becoming what we now know them as.
On November 14, 2025, Tracy Kidder participated in our Tech Pioneers Oral History Project, and we are so appreciative that we got to spend a couple of hours hearing his story. He was kind, warm, and brilliant.
May his memory be a blessing.
